Pregnancy Calendar Week 15

What’s Happening With Mom?

Your expanding uterus means that you officially have a bump. Bumps interfere with your regular wardrobe, and while some moms have managed without maternity clothes through the first trimester, just about all of us need maternity clothes now to avoid spending the rest of these nine months slumming it in sweatpants and your man’s clothes. Buying outfits you’ll only wear for a couple of months might not be a good use of your money, so as well as maternity stores at the mall, check out thrift stores and consignment stores, and ask mom friends if they have any maternity clothes they can lend or give you. However much you budget for maternity clothes, there’s one item that everyone will appreciate spending the money on – maternity panties. Pregnancy is one of those times you’ll really appreciate having comfortable underwear.

Your hair and nails are growing faster and probably looking quite luxurious right now. Sadly, this is one of those changes that reverses after your baby is born. It might appear that your hair is falling out after your baby is born, but actually it’s just going back to it’s pre-pregnancy thickness.

Progesterone, the hormone responsible for keeping you pregnant, causes many side effects and one is to raise your body temperature slightly. And extra body heat means more perspiration, especially in the summer. If you find yourself turning into a sweaty betty, make sure you drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.

What’s Happening With Baby?

Baby is growing hair and nails too, skin is forming, and baby even has eyebrows.

Muscle and nerve development continues. Your baby is getting more and more co-ordinated, and can make more complex movements like making a fist.
