What’s Happening With Mom?
No matter how excited you are about being pregnant, no matter how much you love your baby, you might be feeling a little fed up of being pregnant right now. You might be having trouble sleeping, you are probably sick of stupid questions from other people wanting to know if you are ready to pop, and feeling huge and uncomfortable.
However much you’ve loved (or loved and hated) being pregnant, you might be feeling that it’s time for baby to come out. There’s plenty of old wives’ tales and traditional ways to bring on labor, and they all have one thing in common – they really won’t do anything. And worse, some can actually make you sick. Drinking castor oil is one common old wives tale for inducing labor, but all it will do is give you diarrhea.
The only way to get a baby out is to go into labor, which will happen when baby is ready, or be medically induced, which only your doctor can decide the time is right for.
It’s so exciting to become a mom, and you can’t wait to meet your baby. But there are some things that you can only do while you aren’t taking care of a baby. Take time for yourself and do things that won’t be possible before baby comes – date night with your man, hobbies you enjoy, lunch with girlfriends, spending quiet time reading, meditating and relaxing, and anything else you’ll miss once your life is filled with diapers and feedings and sleepless nights.
What’s Happening With Baby?
Baby is perfecting the functions of their organs. Every day baby’s breathing gets more organized (but they’ll still hiccup a lot), baby’s digestive system practices digesting, and baby’s heart rate becomes more regular.
The average baby weighs just under about 7lbs this week but that can vary a lot. It’s normal for full term babies to weigh between 6 and 9lbs.
