What’s Happening With Mom?
You’ll be seeing your doctor twice a week now, who will be checking on baby’s health, and looking out for signs of labor.
You’ll probably be experiencing some signs that labor is close. You might loose your mucus plug, feel a stabbing pain in vagina as your cervix dilates, loss of appetite or mild diarrhea, and feel practice contractions.
Or, nothing at all might be happening except that you feel the size of a supertanker and that baby is extremely comfortable within. Both are normal and you could still go into labor at any time.
You might also be nesting like crazy, scrubbing the kitchen floor, making sure the nursery is pristine and the house is spotless. Even the most relaxed mom can feel the urge to clean under the refrigerator at 39 weeks. And if you usually have high standards with housework, try to go easy on yourself and not expend all your energy on cleaning.
While we are on the subject of housework, please give yourself a break after your baby is born. The priorities in life with a newborn are: your baby, and you. Period. When you are a brand new mom, try not to stress too much over the laundry and dirty dishes piling up. And for goodness sake: get your man to help, and if he can’t or won’t, then he’d better not complain, or hire someone to do the cleaning for you.
What’s Happening With Baby?
Baby is full grown and ready to make their grand entrance. This week, baby should be should be head down, with their head deep inside your pelvis, their body curled up, probably facing towards your back, and all ready for birth.
If you have been scheduled for a cesarean section, you’ll probably have it this week. We hope your surgery goes smoothly, and wish you a speedy recovery. And congratulations on your new baby!
